Scultura Via Crucis. Dono offerto al Presidente della Repubblica. Realizzata nel 1983 dallo scultore Antonello Conti, quest’opera rappresenta tre fasi conclusive della vita terrena di Nostro Signore ed è stata realizzata in lega di argento a fusione a cera persa. La prima scultura a destra è rappresentativa della Via Crucis, seguita a sinistra dalla Crocifissione, mentre al centro si trova l’Ascensione, alla presenza degli apostoli, che increduli cercano quasi di trattenere il loro Maestro.
Tutte particolarmente suggestive per la forza espressiva emanata, è interessante notare che l’artista è riuscito a far trasparire il dato realistico del racconto evangelico del doloroso cammino del Cristo fino alla sua ascesa al cielo, amalgamando in un dialogo profondo tutti gli stilemi tradizionali dell’iconografia. L’autore suggella la tensione emotiva del Cristo condannato e avvolto da un’aura di dolore e di morte, con la solenne rappresentazione della sua immortalità.

Sculpture Via Crucis. Gift offered to the President of the Republic. Executed in 1983 by the sculptor Antonello Conti, this work represents three conclusive phases in the earthly life of Our Lord and was realised in silver alloy using the lost wax method. The first sculpture on the right represents the Way of the Cross, followed on the left by the Crucifixion, while at the centre there is the Ascension, in the presence of the Apostles, who in disbelief almost seek to hold back their Master.
All particularly evocative for their expressive power, it is interesting to note that the artist has succeeded in revealing the realistic fact of the Gospel account of Christ’s painful journey up to His ascension to heaven, combining in a profound dialogue all the traditional styles of iconography. The author suggests the emotional tension of Christ, condemned and enveloped in an aura of pain and death, with the solemn representation of His immortality.
