According to the Washington Blade, Bishop Joseph Akonga Essomba of the Catholic Diocese of Bafia on August 4, made the comment during a homily he gave in memory of Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala. “The bishop was killed because he stood up against homosexuals in the church and the priesthood,” Bishop Essomba, reportedly said. Going by the news report, Bishop Essomba lambasts front row runners in church insinuating that they killed the bishop.
