Crolla scuola a Nairobi, morti 7 bambini

Almeno sette bambini sono morti nel crollo di una scuola a Nairobi, mentre più di 10 sono intrappolati sotto le macerie. Lo riferiscono fonti ufficiali keniane. Altri 57 bambini sono stati trasportati in ospedale, ha detto il portavoce del governo Cyrus Oguna. Molti genitori si trovano davanti alla 'Precious Talent Top School' nell'attesa angosciante di notizie dei loro figli, mentre i soccorritori scavano tra i detriti. Non è ancora chiaro perché l'edificio di legno e lamiere di metallo sia crollato stamani attorno alle 7.30 ora locale.

Morto accoltellato un sacerdote di 32 anni in circostanze non chiare

Oggi nella città di Makutano (a 223 km a nord di Nairobi), in circostanze non ancora chiarite, è stato ucciso con due coltellate il sacerdote keniota della diocesi di Meru, padre Eutycus Murangiri Muthuri, di 32 anni. La polizia del posto ha già arrestato una coppia che era insieme al presbitero quando sono arrivati, la sera di lunedì 3 giugno, ad un albergo del luogo e dove tutti e tre avevano prenotato stanze. 

Il sacerdote apparteneva alla parrocchia di Limbine nella contea Tigania. Il capo locale della polizia, Robinson Mboloi, ha detto che una donna di circa 25 anni e un uomo di 27 anni sono stati arrestati per essere indagati. R. Mboloi ha detto anche che i tre sono stati visti mentre bevevano lunedì sera prima di ritirarsi nelle loro stanze.

È la severa denuncia espressa dalla conferenza episcopale del Kenya (Kccb) in una dichiarazione sulla situazione sociale del paese diffusa nei giorni scorsi al termine di un incontro svoltosi presso la casa del clero a Ruaraka, nella capitale kenyota. Nel descrivere la situazione di enorme difficoltà in cui versa la nazione «a causa della nostra incapacità di trovare soluzioni durature alle sfide politiche, sociali ed economiche» la Kccb, pronunciandosi su una vasta gamma di questioni, ha osservato che il paese si dimostra carente di valori etici, e i giovani non possono così seguire validi modelli di riferimento e figure credibili che valga la pena emulare.
