Cleveland Bishop Nelson Perez has called Thursday’s arrest of a Strongsville Catholic priest on possession of child pornography charges “devastating and heart-wrenching” to Catholics across Northeast Ohio. “All of us feel tremendous emotions of shock, disappointment and confusion,” Perez said in the statement. A spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland issued the statement late Friday on behalf of Perez, who is in Rome to attend routine pastoral meetings with Pope Francis. “I ask you to join me in prayerful solidarity for healing asking for God’s grace and guidance in this painful situation,” the statement said.
