Vestments of Estonian bishop who died in prison returned to his cathedral
(John Burger) Archbishop Eduard Profittlich was taken to a Soviet camp, where he died of exposure in 1942. -- The liturgical vestments worn by a Catholic bishop widely considered a martyr have been returned to the Church in Estonia. The vestments had been worn by Eduard Profittlich at his consecration as a bishop in Tallinn in 1936, six years before his death in a Soviet prison. (...)
