Church that suffered under Soviets and rebounded loses its ‘sage’
(Inés San Martín) Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, the former head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, died on Wednesday at the age of 84 after having inherited a church "on its knees" in the post-Soviet period and leading it through a renaissance. Eerily reminiscent of St. Nicholas, the prototype for Santa Claus, Husar is being remembered as a sage and moral hero. (...)
